Metal Gear Survive has kept the attention of gamers everywhere since it was re-launched at Gamescom 2016. The first game using the Metal Gear name from Hideo Kojima's high-profile departure from Konami was always going to get a hard ride, but over the weekend the score finally began to come in. Critics have not had any difficulty in playing as expected from the bad thoughts surrounding it, with scores ranging from average to good.
Metal Gear Survive was built using the FOX Engine developed by Kojima Productions after MGS 4 and later used in Konami Pro Evolution Soccer games, as well as MGS 5: The Phantom Pain. Metal Gear Survive follows a wounded soldier in the base of an infected mother as they escape the landscapes, rescue survivors and seek medical treatment for the victim. The game was critically acclaimed before its release for its ongoing online single-player and microtransactions. Metal Gear Survive was released on February 20, 2018, but online servers only operated on the day of release, which is why most reviews are up over the weekend.
